Health & Safety

Your safety is important to us.  Please help us to keep you safe by reading and adhering to the following guidelines.

Course Safety

Please note that all roads are open to traffic.  Be aware of vehicles exiting and entering properties on the course.  Always follow the directions of marshalls and event staff.

Medical Information

Please fill in the medical information on the back of your race number.  St John is located at the start/finish area in Flagstaff Park and there is a roving ambulance on the course.  If you require St John on course please ask a marshall to contact this ambulance.  All marshalls have the contact cellphone number of roving ambulance.

Sun Safe

Please be prepared for a warm day.  Cover up, wear a hat, sunglasses, and use Sunscreen at least 15 minutes before event start.  Seek shade when you have finished your event.  There will be FREE Sunscreen placed outside Flagstaff Club.

Stay Hydrated

Ensure you stay hydrated throughout the day.  For further information on hydration click here where you will find comprehensive information on hydration before, during and after your run/walk.

Drink Stations are located at:

  • 4km  River Road (Half Marathon event)
  • 4km  Kay Rd (10km event)
  • 7.5km  Horotiu Bridge (Half Marathon event)
  • 12km  Boat Ramp (Half Marathon event)
  • 15.5km  Pathway off Totara Drive (Half Marathon & 5km event)
  • 19km  Borman Rd (Half and 10km events)

 

Portaloos are located at:

  • 4.5km  Kay Road (10km event)
  • 7.5km  Horotiu Bridge (Half Marathon event)

Health Advice

We would recommend that all our competitors follow the health advice on the Runners Medical Resources Website. This website is maintained and supported by some of the biggest running and triathlon events in the world including Virgin London Marathon, Bath Half Marathon, Edinburgh Marathon and the London Triathlon.

Training Runs from the Park

Live locally, then come and join us at Flagstaff Park (Commodore Ave) from Sunday 3 July 8.00am start for weekly pack training runs leading up to the Half, 10km or 5km events.

  • Free of charge – only stipulation is you must have already entered the Half, 10km or 5km OR you can pay $5.00 each week towards your entry fee.
  • Free training advice given.
  • Free weekly generic training schedules.
  • Just starting or would like to start running we can help you.
  • Want to increase from the 5km to the 10km distance or from the 10km distance to the Half marathon we can help you.
  • Wanting motivation we have heaps of this.
  • Wanting company on your longer run we can help you.
