Achilles New Zealand
A message from Peter Loft Chairperson and Co-founder - we look forward to Achilles athletes of all abilities running, wheeling, hopping, pushing or walking the 5/10 or Half Marathon distance, all will have the same goal and that is to finish and get a medal that says “recognise me for what I am a full human being” running and walking in mainstream events is fantastic for the self esteem of our athletes, it is events like this one that have the courage to allow people of all abilities to enter and participate that change how the general public see disability, once you see our athletes on the course you will start seeing the person first and ability second. When that happens it is a ‘victory for humanity’ and that’s what Achilles is all about. If you want to know more about Achilles check out our website, details on the new Hamilton Chapter are there and how you can become involved as an Achilles guide or athlete and how you can enter this event as part of Achilles. www.achillesnewzealand.org I look forward to seeing you on the start line Sunday 2nd October
