Q. How can I pay for my entry fee?

Direct credit to Hamilton Half Marathon Account Number 123123 0020494 00. If paying by direct credit you must enter your surname in the reference column and you are still required to either fax or post an entry form to us. Fax number 07 849 0019.

You can also drop your entry into the Hamilton Half Marathon Office at 38 Bryant Road Te Rapa during office hours 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
Q. I entered and did not receive a confirmation of my entry. What should I do?
Contact us by email – [email protected] or phone 0800 Ham Half (0800 426 425) All online entries receive an e-confirmation. For manual entries, confirmations will be posted out with race instructions a week before event date.
Q. How can I check to see if my entry has been received?
Q. What does Grade mean on the entry form?
Grade refers to the age group that is applicable to you. The Open Grade ages are for ages up to 34, the next grade is for ages 35 to 44 and so on. For example if you are male and 56 years old you would tick Masters Men 55-64 as this is the category that is applicable to you.
Q. Can I still enter on the day?
Yes you can enter on the day at Registration headquarters at Flagstaff Club, Flagstaff Park up until 8.30am Sunday 3rd October. Registration for all events will close at that time. A late entry fee of $15.00 will apply and will be adhered to.
Q. What date do I have to enter by to avoid paying the late penalty fee?
We must receive your entry by Monday 27th September. Online entries must be received by midnight on that date and postal entries must be postmarked either on or before that date.
Q. Can I enter after closing date and pay the late fee?
Yes, entries will be accepted either by post or online. Online entries will be available until midnight Thursday 30th September.
Q. Are there late entries in the Kids Marathon?
No there are no late entries taken for the Kids Marathon due to T Shirt and medal requirements.
Q. Can my entry fee be refunded or transferred?
There are no refunds on entries but you may transfer your entry to another person. If transferring up from the 10km to Half Marathon or from the 5km to 10km the fee difference must be paid. To transfer your entry please contact the Office on 0800 426 425. There are no refunds for changing to a lower fee event.
Q. Why do the entries close early in the Kids Marathon?
For children to run 40km in total before event day they require between a 4 to 10 week period to do so plus we have to allow time for T Shirts and medals to be ordered.
Q. I entered my child in the Kids Marathon and forgot to download the Training Guide, how can I obtain one?
Q. I want to walk and run. What should I enter as?
You must enter as a runner. We ask that competitor’s who enter as a walker, walk the entire event.
Q. How do I enter a Corporate Team?
The easiest way to enter a team is online. Select the Team tab where you will be able to enter all the team at once. If you are entering your team manually, each team member must complete an entry form. The Team Name must be the same on all 4 entries for the team.
Q. In what events can you enter a Corporate Team?
You can enter a team into the Half Marathon or the 10km event.
Q. How is a Corporate Team made up?
A team must consist of 4 participants, male or female, they can be runners or walkers and must include 3 employees of the Company and the Company name must appear in the team name.
Q. Can we elect one Team member to pick up all race numbers and race packs for the team?
Yes you can. When you enter your team there is an option for you to indicate if you require your race numbers and packs to be collated and to name the team member who will pick them up from registration.
Q. We forgot to elect a Team member to pick up race numbers and packs when we entered and we would like to do this now. What can we do?
You must contact us by email [email protected] or phone 0800 Ham Half (0800 426 425) by Thursday 30th September and we will organise for you. If you have not contacted us by that date each team member will have to pick up their own registration number and pack.
Q. Can a Corporate Team bring a small tent/gazebo to Flagstaff Park for use by team members?
Q. Where do I pick up my race number and race pack from?
You pick your race number and race pack up from the Flagstaff Club, Flagstaff Park Commodore Avenue, Flagstaff in Hamilton. Registration is open from Friday 1st October 5 to 7pm, 9am to 5pm Saturday 2nd October and from 6.30am Sunday 3rd October. We ask that if you live locally to please pick your number and pack up on Saturday to avoid queues and congestion on Sunday.
Q. What do I need to bring to collect my race pack?
You must bring your e-confirmation or manual confirmation with you. If you have misplaced your confirmation please bring some other form of identification such as driver’s license.
Q. Can I pick up another person’s race pack for them?
Yes you can, however their e-confirmation or written authority from them is necessary.
Q. What is in the race pack?
The race pack contains your race number, electronic timing chip, safety pins, promotional and giveaway items.
Q. If I have multiple entries from the same address do I have to enter and pay for each person separately?
No, if you are entering more than 1 person from the same address, when entering the subsequent person/s the system will automatically capture the same address. This negates you having to enter some data twice and you will also be able to make just one payment.
Q. What is the closing date for entries in the Kids Marathon?
Entries for the Kids Marathon will close on 6th September 2010.
T SHIRTS
Q. How can I purchase a T Shirt and how do I get it?
You can purchase a T Shirt when you enter. You pick your T Shirt up with your race pack and number from Race Registration at Flagstaff Park. Race Registration opens from Friday 1st October 5 to 7pm, 9am to 5pm Saturday 2nd October and from 6.30am Sunday 3rd October.
Q. Can I purchase a T Shirt after I have entered?
Yes. Email [email protected] or phone 0800 Ham Half (0800 426 425) and we will arrange this for you.
Q. Will there be any T Shirts available for purchase on race day?
No, to pick a T Shirt up on race day you must pre order, but we can take an order for you and post out. Go to the T Shirt Desk at Registration to place an order. A postage charge is added.
Q. To pick up a T Shirt on race day when do I have to order by?
You must order by Thursday 23rd September to pick up a T Shirt on race day. Any orders received after this date will not be fulfilled until after race day.
Q. How do I order a Kids Marathon T Shirt?
Kids Marathon T Shirts are included in the price of their entry fee. When children enter this event they must indicate their T Shirt size on their entry. T Shirt sizes are determined by age and our suppliers have informed us the T Shirts are a generous fit.
THE COURSE
Q. Have all the courses been measured and certified as correct?
Yes, all the courses have been measured and certified as correct.
Q. Are the courses suitable for prams, buggies or wheelchairs?
No, all the courses are unsuitable for prams, buggies and wheelchairs.
Q. Can I take my dog?
No animals of any kind are allowed.
Q. How many drink stations are on the course for the Half Marathon?
There will be 4 at approximately every 5 kilometres.
Q. How many drink stations are on the course for the 10km?
There will be 2 drink stations at approximately the 4km and 8km mark.
Q. Are there any toilets on the Half Marathon course?
Yes there are toilets situated in Parana Park, west side of Waikato River, also there is a toilet at Ann Street and also underneath Pukete Bridge on the river path west side of the Waikato River.
Q. Will medical help be available on the course?
Yes, a roving St Johns Ambulance will be available around the courses. Course marshalls are located at regular points also and you should notify them if you have any difficulties during the event.
Q. What course do the children in the Kids Marathon run on race day?
The children will run 2 x 1 kilometre laps of Flagstaff Park and will finish down the main finish shute.
Q. The Half Marathon, 10km and 5km event starts are going to be waved, what does waved mean?
Waved means approximately 200 will be started at one time in minute intervals. Walkers in each event will be started behind the runners. This is to avoid congestion at the start line.
Q. Will starting in waves affect my time?
No, each competitor will be wearing a timing transponder on their shoe which records net and gun times.
Q. What are net and gun times?
Net time is the actual time taken between crossing the starting and finishing mat as recorded by your transponder. Gun time is the time taken between the starting gun and the finish mat.
Q. Is the Kids Marathon timed?
No the Kids Marathon is not timed. This event is not a race but the final 2.195km to complete their Marathon distance.

Q. Can a parent run with their child in the Kids Marathon?
Yes, but only if your child is aged 6 and under and you must start at the rear of the field. The course is safe for children to participate in.
Q. What are Pace Runners?
Pace runners are provided in the Half Marathon to assist competitors achieve their goals.
Q. How many pace runners will there be and how do we locate them on race day?
There will be 6 New Balance sponsored pace runners and they will be holding a coloured helium balloon at the start and a goal time sign. Each Pace Runner will be wearing a New Balance singlet with the goal time marked on the back. There will also be announcements prior to race start advising of pace runner locations and details.

Q. Is there food and refreshments available for purchase at the finish?
Yes. Flagstaff Club has resident caterers. There will also be on site a juice and a coffee vendor.
Q. What parking is available?
There is parking available on Housing NZ land adjacent to Flagstaff Shops – enter from Endeavour Avenue and follow the instructions from the parking marshalls. There is also parking available in streets surrounding Flagstaff Park (refer to map on website). There are several feeder paths into Flagstaff Park which means wherever you do park you will not be far from a feeder entrance. Under no circumstances are you to park in the Flagstaff shops car park.
Q. Are there any showers at Flagstaff Park?
Yes there are 19 showers available for use. 10 will be for female and 9 for male.
Q. Is the start and finish at the same place?
Yes all events will start and finish at Flagstaff Park.
Q. What time does the prize giving ceremony start and where will it take place?
Prize giving will commence at 12.30pm outside the Flagstaff Club.
Q. Are there spot prizes?
Yes, there are spot prizes. The major spot prizes will be presented at prize giving. You must be present to collect any of the spot prizes. For all other minor spot prizes, a letter will be handed out to randomly selected finishers for you to collect your prize at the spot prize tent.
Q. If the weather is wet, will the prize giving ceremony be cancelled?
Yes it will be cancelled and all winners of merit prizes will be notified by email. Major spot prize winners will be notified by phone.
Q. Are there spot prizes for the Kids Marathon?
Yes, this year we have introduced 2 major spot prizes for the Kids Marathon. One girl and one boy will each win a bike. You must be present at prize giving to collect these prizes.
POST RACE
Q. When will the results be available?
If you submitted your cell phone number with your entry, shortly after event completion you will receive a text informing you of your time. The results will be available on the website within 24 hours of event completion.
Q. Are there photographers at the event?
Yes, Marathon-photos.com takes a photo of each finisher. You can view these photos shortly after the event on www.Marathon-photos.com once you are at this website, click on the SBS Bank Hamilton Half Marathon event and enter your race number to bring up your photo.
Q. Do we get a Finishers Certificate?
Yes there are finishers certificates for all events including the Kids Marathon and you will be able to download and print your Finishers Certificate from www.Marathon-photos.com by clicking on the link and entering your race number.
